Title: 20 Lancias in one sale - Artcurial Le Mans 2014
Post by: Sebastien on 10 June, 2014, 02:32:25 PM
Preamble: By posting this I do not wish in any way to promote an auction, auctioneer, or anything else.

Interesting to see that french auction houses have found a new vein - they sell cars from italians.
Artcurial seems to have secured the collection of a Lancia collector from Perugia, who had among others Augusta, Aprilia, Aurelia, Appia, up to Flavia and Thema.

The descriptions have to be digested with a grain of salt, and where it gets too effusive, you might wonder if there is something wrong.
The auctioner for example normally gives the engine number, which is fine - however the interested reader has to do his job, and if he does it, he will find that in some cases the type of engine is non original and from an earlier model.

Also some times the notion "charming patina" has maybe to be translated as "ripe for body off restoration". However the plentiful photos give a first idea...

Finally do not forget to check the general conditions of the auction: up to 30'000 Euros they charge a buyer fee of 25% + VAT - an additional 5% of the hammer price !! over 30'000 those charges drop to only 20%, and 4% of VAT!

And finally I wrote elsewhere on the forum my comment about the Lambda Casaro barnfind, that came from the US of A via Holland.
http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=3706.15

However, I cannot remember having seen as many as 20 different Lancias, from Lambda to Delta Integrale, for sale at one auction before.

Additional edit:
Reading the small print again I find:

Which translates:
7 - Goods under a special legislation
The above conditions apply to all type of sales and specifically to collector motor cars.
However the charge that the buyer has to pay additionally to the hammer price are computed as follows:
Collector motor cars
From 1 to 600'000 €: 16% + VAT at the applicable rate
From 600'000 to 1'400'000 € : 12 % + VAT at the applicable rate
Over 1'400'000 € : 10 % + VAT at the applicable rate

So I am sorry to have quoted too high a commission above. For our Lancias you should use 16% + VAT - still a good amount!

Lot 295 onwards - could start with the lot below and click "next lot" top right of the photo.

The Flavia PF is billed as five speed. Is that possible with the long gear lever?

I'm looking forward to having the time to look over them all.  They've been to town on the photos.

Unlikely ... I think the Vignale is missing a few bits and is non original with 1800 engine. I like the idea on redoing the dash but not that execution. Interesting to see if it sells

Thank you the heads up and "reading between the lines" of the Italian description...buyer beware, especially of the 25% auctioneer "mark up", what the normal mark up in UK and other countries, scandalous!

Very low estimates on the Aprilias and Augusta. Is it due to RHD? Maybe an excuse for a Holiday in France!

Isn't that three dial Flavia dash a Nardi accessory?

The Aprilias and Augusta look appealing.

The Flavia Zagato is freshly painted - but they are yet to get the front bumper on straight or refit the console.

It might be 25pct to the buyer - but for the rest of use that's a lot of reference photos up on the web to enjoy.  Makes a change from a single front three quarter and "the owner says its as good as it looks".

The integrale Martini 5 is 80-100k Euros.....
Admittedly with only 1800km on the clock.

The Pininfarina Aprilia is pretty amazing, I haven't heard the story about the Paris Motor Show before. Interesting the chassis number is from 1947!

http://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=2535+++++308+&refno=10495276

For your comfort their buyers premium is only 16% on cars.

The results are in http://www.artcurial.com/en/asp/fullCatalogue.asp?salelot=2535+++++313+&refno=10495171
Then click 'back to search results' at the top to see the others, as deep linking doesn't seem to work.

Lovely Augusta for under £10,000 + premium appealed to me  :)

As did the S2 Fulvia Berlina at £2376 + premium.

Robin.

Desirable models all went for more than estimate or didn't sell. Less sought after well within or below estimate, tells a tale

"Less sought after"! Frank wash your mouth out with soap and water ;) The two very desirable Aprilia berlinas did go for what appears to be a very reasonable amount though.

Luckily there wasn't the ugly duckling of the marque up for grabs, as no-one would have even bid on it........the B12!!!!

The was a Flavia Sport - everyone there was sensible and left it alone.

To the contrary I think you'll find your B12 very attractive once it's finished, especially after you've fired up that lovely V6 and driven it a few 100 kilometres or so.

Yes.....for me yes, but as we know the market and enthusiasts/collectors have the final say, desirable B20 Vs undesirable B12 survival rates,  Vs numbers built in first instance?

That is the true arbiter of whats attractive (for whatever reason) and whats not!

I was quite intrigued with the Series 2 Fulvia Berlina fitted with Thema seats! that seem to have been a perfect fit, any idea what it went for?

To be honest, I wasn't impressed with the quality of some of the cars up for auction, particularly the recently re painted red integrale evo 2 which didn't even have the front wheel arch liners fitted.
The Thema 8.32 looked as if it had in the past been rear ended and hadn't had a brilliant paint job.

Still, not as if I was buying!

The Integrale Evo II you mentioned sold for €30,992 incl did it not? Not sure what a good original unmolested Evo II is worth these days.

Bloody hell!!!!! Wish I'd hung on to my evo 1. Would've been worth at least that!
