Title: Mystery subframe
Post by: DavidLaver on 22 May, 2014, 01:47:30 PM

I mentioned this in a Flavia thread with no response so thought I'd ask here.

What is this?

Who would want it?

David

It looks like it could be off an early Fulvia saloon which had different (inboard) pick up points for the rear of the subframe?

Neil,
Just looked in my Series 1 Berlina Workshop Manual that is mostly of the early Normale Variant with additions for later Variants.
There isn't really a great difference between the early and later subframes and this is nothing like it, besides anything else this seems much too hefty, looks to me more like a rear subframe for something with rear wheel drive, with all the transmission at the back.

Hi Brian,

You may well be right - I've never seen one.

These are extracts from the Dati Tecnici that show the dimensions for the two different arrangements. This suggests the cross dimension for the narrow set-up is 706mm vs 1274 on the more familar subframe.

I'm tempted to let this run as a "subframes through the ages" thread (maybe not a display for the NEC...) but Colin Clamp tells me its off a 2000.

I cannot comment on the sub-frame, but am glad that Colin has solved the mystery.

However, I have noted that David's diet seems to be beer 'n' beans!!! David, I think you are up to four of your 'five a day' with beans and tomatoes in the food element plus hops and barley in the drinks section. Only one more to go .... well done.

I'm tempted to keep selecting random bits to test Colin.  This is from the 2000 TAV from the disk in the back of the Flavia book.

Scroll all the way down:

Perhaps get in quick before the consortium price either goes up or they run out:
