I thought the price guide of $1.1 - 1.3 million looked ambitious, but $1.8m !!! I wonder if we'll see it at the AGM....

Is it known to club, sold by Jean Sage?

Noting the other results over last year from the anamera site....the 2nd one listed was the barnfind?

The Lancia B24 S America that we offer was sold new in New York in 1955 via the official importer of Lancia, remaining in the hands of the same owner until the late 1980s. In 1989, when the car was found at the bottom of a garage in a state of disrepair, the car was sent back to Italy to KCA Restauro Auto d'Epoca in Cassina de Pecchi, near Milan, a specialist Aurelia restoration shop. The car was completely restored in the state of the art (works totaling approximately 1,400 hours) before being delivered to Duke Enrico Battiato Paterno Castello di Catania, in Sicily, who used the car very occasionally, and who took the car back for another restoration performed by the same person who took care of it in 1990! Chromes have been completely redone by Galvanica Spino D'Adda, for a total of € 5,000. All the mechanical part was restored by a Lancia specialist, who performed on the engine a conversion to a Nardi twin carburetor set up with triple overhead sports cams. With this special treatment, the power is now estimated at 160bhp. Note that it still has its original mechanicals, so that the car has, as the saying goes, "matching numbers". After several road tests, the work continued with the revision and adjustment of the clutch (reinforced version), the gearbox and brakes. Nothing was left to chance. Moreover, the car is equipped with new Borrani spoked wheels, shod with Michelin tyres, and Marchal fog lamps.
This car offers a sublime presentation, in its Rubino Rosso colour, looking impeccable with its black leather interior. Put on a four-post lift, we notice that its underbody is in excellent condition, all small details have been taken care of. The car is ready to go all distances and provide its new owner the inexpressible joy of a car with a timeless beauty, what with its powerful and smooth six-cylinder all set for the "dolce vita" mood that only Italian cars of that era provide with so much talent and flavour. This version Spyder America represents the pinnacle of production Lancias of this period time, and the limited number of examples made makes it extremely difficult to acquire one easily.
Without doubt, the B24 America is one of the most beautiful roadster in the history of the automobile, the soft lines seeming like a Brancusi sculpture, a true work of art.

That Aurelia spider now sold by Gooding (B24S-1077) has been for sale a few years ago in Holland, check:

It was then (around 2011) described as "restored and in top condition"
I am not quite sure, but since that time it seems to have changed color.

In any case, a nice trophy for the man who has taste, and money!
And from what I hear a nicer driving experience than similarly priced Ferraris of the same vintage.

The Gooding car's price was an enormous leap up form the previous Spider prices - and makes the Anamera guide look very cautious now. The Gooding car has the nice Borrani wheels rather than the 'wire wheels' which most seem to have now ( and the Anamera car has fog lights fitted into the body, which I don't like - are they claimed to be an original customer request I wonder?

The new owners of these top range classics, don't drive them. Possibly dont even see them. They are pure investments that could just as well be paintings, houses, or antique furniture that form part of a portfolio. Sad.

The old owners (and the young ones) still do.

The 'old' owners certainly do drive them. The Registro Austrian trip last year was around 1,500km of driving I recall in Jacky's B24S Convertible (I was the navigator) ....and that was after we had arrived at the start in the Dolomites with the drive home still to come.
