New Year's Day Gathering

Wednesday, January 1, 2014
All classic, vintage and veteran cars, motor cycles and commercial vehicles are welcome for possibly the largest New Year’s Day gathering in the South East!  Entry is via the Campbell Gate off Brooklands Road for pre-1973 vehicles and pre-booked car clubs.

Gates open at 9am and the Museum buildings and displays are open from 10am - 4pm; normal Museum admission prices apply for those in non-classic vehicles.

I have approached the Brooklands Museum organisers to request a Lancia pitch, if you would like to attend, please let me know so that I can request a suitable size spot for us on the 1st.

Thanks,

Neil

Brooklands update: we have been allocated a space of 10 cars behind the hangar on the finishing straight, in the usual location.   Hopefully we can fill the space see you on the 1st!

Being that Surrey is one of the areas affected by the bad weather, and with Byfleet featuring on the news as being hit with flooding, any idea what the situation is with Brooklands, as it also has a river adjacent to the site and the event is less than a week away?

Flooding update from the Brooklands Museum website below. Obviously we'll need to check the website at http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/ (http://www.brooklandsmuseum.com/) the day before or even on the day before setting off.

It didn’t rain as much as the Met office was predicting in Surrey and South London last night although it was a bit windy, so hopefully it should be OK for NYD. I am hoping to get there early, weather permitting.

Theo & Jay,
Thanks for the update.
I probably shan't make it until about 10.30am as I have to drop my dogs off at my daughters place first so save me a place please.

We are going, even if its raining. In my view, Brooklands deserves the support.

It was very wet. But not enough to keep Brian and a few other Lancia owners away.

The weather forecast was spot on - it was awful!  But nice to catch up with people whilst sheltering from the elements.

Andy, it was even worse than that!  It is shame it was not 24 hours later, today was entirely different and if we had been there today a few more Lancias would have made an appearance.  But well done to the 4 hardy should who did bring their cars.

It was cold wet windy and generally very miserable weather which got worse by the hour, coming wasn't to bad although the M25 was shut between J8 and J10 due to an`incident'which wasn't a problem coming anticlockwise, but the journey home around the M25 and back up the M1 was terrible and I was glad to get home.
On arriving at Brooklands I was directed to behind the hanger rather than up to our usual place on the slope to the banking, I was also informed that he thought I was the first Lancia to arrive, so I wasn't surprised when I got around by Concorde to find no one else there, so as it was bucketing down I sought shelter under Concorde, and took myself off for a cup of tea and a sausage sandwich, where I met Dale and Andy who informed me were up the slope so I moved "Fay", although Concorde did make a good backdrop for some photos that I need to reduce in size before I can post them.
Pity there was only the 4 cars but quite understandle with the conditions.

Brian et al

Personally I think you all deserve medals for even trying, I was down in Devon and even the dog did not want to venture out....
