Title: Lambda lunch at the Phoenix today
Post by: ColinMarr on 20 June, 2013, 06:02:53 PM
It is greatly to my advantage that the Lambda fraternity regard me as a fellow traveller and I was pleased to take part in another Phoenix lunch and gathering today. Thanks to Mike Benwell for organising such an event following closely on from the Sliding Pillar Rally that had been enjoyed by several of the participants.

Some photos below that don’t do justice to it all, but the following captions might help:

-   a panoramic shot of the car park
-   experts examining the ex-Julian Jane Lambda Special
-   Peter Gerrish presenting an award to Bill Jamieson with Bill wondering which pot he will squeeze into his hand-baggage allowance to     take back to Oz
-   my Fulvia being admired by the chef
-   the cream two-door short Lambda that I would have liked to take home
-   an instrument panel shot of my car, just because it’s an old habit.

Yes indeed, another memorable gathering at the Phoenix, many thanks to Mike Benwell for once more organizing.

Sadly the Dilambda was unable to attend following a mishap in France returning from the Sliding Pillar Rally. More on that later! So, with the Fanalone still recovering from Fulvia 50 the trusty Fulvia S2 Berlina (christened 'Tatty' by Margaret  :o)  was pressed into service and once again proved what a delightful and satisfying mode of transport it is. :)

Robin.

"Tatty" didn't look that tatty to me - and as well as being trusty, it also seemed thrusty! Sorry about the Dilambda though.

It's not what they look like, it's how they go that is important !! After all, that is why they were built in the first place !!!!

Thank you for the photographs Colin, it certainly looks as though it was a wonderful day.

I share your sentiments Andy!
This trip  plus the SPR made it 1300miles for my Aprilia in 7days.
Not without some fettling I should admit!

Anyway thanks to Mike for the organising and the invite from Niki and myself.

That takes me back! Used to live just down the road in Camberley and visit on New Years Day (well, inbetween too for lunch). In fact had my last British pub lunch there 7 years ago. Around the same time I believe I saw your Zagato in Graeme Bates' workshop. He used to work on my coupe. Yours looks very nice, as do the other cars gathered there.
