Title: Aurelia watches
Post by: adrian donovan on 16 April, 2012, 05:28:13 PM
I understand that the Swiss Club is looking for expressions of interest for two Aurelia watches. One is based on the early series speedometer, which some of us already have!, but they are proposing a new one based on the 6th series speedometer. Contact is Jean-Pierre Baumgartner - his e-mail address is baumgarj@worldcom.ch.

Am I the only one who thinks an Italian maker would have been better as it looks strange Lancia-Swiss made. Good looking watch though, I'll buy one.

Do the minor needles do anything?

If I buy a new watch will the trip begin at zero and will it buzz when the first service is due. I guess the watch in the picture is a test mule, after all it's done a heck of a mileage.

According to Jean-Pierre, he contacted all of the Lancia clubs he knew of to gauge interest. He needed to receive orders for min 100 or either and the prices were £99 ex works for the 'B20 2nd Series' and £115 ex works for the 'B20 5th/6th series' as per the photo.
He only received interest for 3 of the earlier watch and 6 of the later one and so the project has been shelved.
The first I knew of these was this tread on the Forum today or did I miss something earlier?. Certainly Jacky would have bought one to go with her B24S Convertible.

I am lucky enough to have 2 of the earlier watch from a few years ago from the Swiss lancia Club and the quality of these is absolutely fine.

Am I the only one to see a Flaminia speedometer with the additional oil temperature gauge?
I would also prefer the watch hands to be more delicate, nearer the original needle!
Still a nice watch, if the required number of takers can be found!

I was expecting the price to be much higher.  I'm interested...

Why not a paragraph in Viva Lancia first?

When's the Aurelia Lunch?   Just before pudding would catch people a little soaked but still awake :)

Would Omicron and/or Peter Harding take a number into stock?

I don't think it was widely advertised....I only heard of the proposed new batch through the Dutch visitors to the Great Northern Rally. My (second series ) watch is going fine, although the new one has nicer, pointed, needles. I can't believe that less than a dozen people want them....

Very nice watches, but I think I will stick with my Omega Speedmaster 8)

The Regalia Secretary recently asked for any ideas in VL. Given the reasonable prices these watches appear ideal? I'd certainly have one.

I'd be interested in a 5th/6th series if the project gets off the ground again.

That's rather lovely.  Does Santa deliver to Australia?

the layout is indeed similar to my PFs speedo so I assume some aurelias have the same design?funds permitting I would buy both watches.richard

Sebastien is correct, the 5th/6th series had instruments similar to the later Flaminia, but on the Aurelia the section at the bottom was for the indicator warining lights. On the Flaminia it was the oil temp gauge, as on the watch. So strictly speaking the watch is a Flaminia watch, not an Aurelia one!
I much prefer the early 2nd series watch.

The switch from grey to black instruments was about 1/2 way through the 4th series, if I remember right.  My early 4th series dials are like the 2nd series except for the addition of indicator arrows.

I'd be interested in a 6th Series (Flaminia ?) one.
Surely more people that those mentioned would be interested in one. A photo advertisement in Viva Lancia would be a good start!
Happy (B12) motoring to all!
Brian.
