Title: How much spare dosh did you have in April 1994?
Post by: Angle Grinder on 26 October, 2011, 07:10:30 PM
I was in the attic and dugout a copy of the Viva Lancia from April 1994. Those were the days, the "Cars for Sale" fills 2 pages and there’s another 1 and a ½ pages of ads for parts etc.

There were 11 Fulvias for sale, including four Zagato 1.3S and one Zagato 1.6HF. Zagato prices ranging from £900 for a restoration to £7,500 for the 1.6HF.

Best of all was this ad. An opportunity missed...

Flaminia PF Coupe 2.5 – 1959 LHD. One of the first built. Green with black leather. Sound car with 12 months MoT. Mechanically excellent, usable, sound body, needs tidying around rear arches. Good interior. £2,895… (somewhere in London) 071 609 XXXX

Four and a half grand in today's money, and given how few takers for the car that Richard has taken on maybe not such a surprise.

I've a 1989 copy of Supercar Classics, back when an Integrale cost about the same as they do now.  Would be interesting to chart values year by year and see which models are worth more than they were new.  I guess a first step would be "price when new, inflation adjusted" and "now".  Would make a nice Viva article...
