Title: VSCC Silverstone race-day 23 April
Post by: ColinMarr on 24 April, 2011, 05:58:37 PM
Silverstone yesterday for the VSCC’s first race-day of the year was wonderful! There were at least nine Lancias there including Howard Morgan’s Lambda with its new very elegant blue and black paintwork and Nick Savage’s Aprilia looking too modern to be in the pre-war car-park amongst more traditional pre-war designs. Parked by race-control were Mike Guest’s Lambda, John Milham’s Augusta (now on Belna wheels) and Tony Stephen’s B20 – all looking gorgeous in the sunshine. I counted four Fulvias including Doug Ellis’s S1 Coupe, Don Macleod’s S2 Sport 1600, my Zagato and a 1600HF that I hadn’t seen before.

Although there were no Lancias racing there was one significant Lancia component that did grace the circuit. This was in the form of the Alta Norris Special from 1936. See the photos of this interesting Special with its 2 litre blown Alta engine and Lancia sliding pillar front suspension, which I think must have come from an Augusta. In its race it was outperformed by Bugatti and ERA, but it looked and sounded fantastic.
