Title: Thread repair / restore files
Post by: DavidLaver on 05 April, 2011, 09:17:15 AM

These were mentioned on an Austin 7 forum and I did some research.  Seem to go by both "thread repair file" and "thread restore file".

Hi David, I've two of these brilliant tools, one metric , the other imperial. They really are great and, with care, it's possible to get an 'as good as new' result. The advice on how to use one in the first link is very good, it really is 'gently does it'. Because the tool is working on such small volumes of metal at any one time there is no need for too much effort to get excellent results and otherwise scrap parts may be made fully functional.

I wouldn't be without one and for such a small outlay ........

I agree, I've had one for years, used so much I'm surprised it's not worn out.

Must admit I know of them, but never got around using, or to buying one or more.
