Title: Fulvia 1.3 Rallye 1968 reg ORL456G on ebay
Post by: yemjay on 03 March, 2011, 12:08:43 PM
Currently for sale on ebay is a Fulvia 1.3 Rallye 1968 reg ORL456G in red with cream interior located in Newquay, and I wondered if anyone might know the car, or if there is local club member who might be kind enough to inspect the car for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looks nice apart from tragically mis-shapen wheelarches. Whoever replaced them clearly hadn't seen a Fulvia before.

Restored externally 4 years ago and the wheelarches need doing again ??? doesn't sound a good portent for the rest of the bodywork, have a look at the photo of the top of the drivers door, looks like a blowover without repairs to the rust scabs underneath, and I don't think the repairs to the wheelarches will be as easy as this trader seems to think, quite surprised at the rusty grille, and yet again no photos of the engine compartment? why?
Interior looks very tidy though.

Thank you for your comments, they echo my own concerns.  I spoke to the dealer (whom I understand usually sells contemporary used vehicles) and was told that the car drives well, everything works, and that the bodywork had been done by a reputed local restorer of classics ...mmm... maybe his use of the word 'refurbished' acknowledges that the restoration work was not as good as one might hope.

Definitely needs an expert eye run over it!
If you look at his other items, he's a trader in modern vehicles, this is the only classic.

Some lively bidding despite our reservations. Just shows that there is nothing like a expert eye Brian. I wouldn't have noticed that the arches were wrong myself.

Bidding ended at £3,433.00 - reserve not met, so the car may still be available (to someone braver, and better informed than myself).
