Title: Saab Lancia 600 Post by: fay66 on 10 November, 2010, 02:19:11 PM While trawling the net looking for something else, I came across this http://www.saabsunited.com/2010/05/the-saab-lancia-600.html
Not knowing a lot about the subject I followed the link that led to a 19 page brochure with lots of pictures. I also found page 18 interesting, as in the side view of models in their line up appears to be a Autobianchi/Lancia A112. As well as this, which I think has more/different stuff and links to yet more; http://www.trollhattansaab.net/archives/2008/01/saab-lancia-600-more-images-and-ownership.html Martin. Title: Re: Saab Lancia 600 Post by: lancialulu on 10 November, 2010, 08:56:51 PM What an excellent find!!

There was certainly never an overheating problem in the UK. The whole idea that you need a hotter thermostat in a colder climate seem a bit strange from the optimum temp for the engine point of view. Very understandable that they wanted a better heater however. Overall a fascinating insight into a botched venture. Title: Re: Saab Lancia 600 Post by: peteracs on 11 November, 2010, 08:46:41 PM Although I have no experience of the heater in the Delta, wanting to up the capacity for a cold climate I can understand (capacity is surely more important than absolute temparature?). Upping the operating temp of the engine as well makes little sense to me, after all the engineers will have designed the whole setup at the set temp. To go ahead and change the operating temp 10 degrees higher without a complete redesign/appraisal sounds pretty incompetent to me.

You're right Ben I just rechecked the article it was a slip of my typing finger, 82 not 87, and the whole point of the change was to give a better heater output. There was certainly never an overheating problem in the UK.
