The coincidental link with me is that the guy who is restoring the bodywork on my Flavia is also the guy that owns the Classic Car Hire company which is being referred to in the ad. The film of the start, around 3.30, leaving aside the extraordinary images of the D50s, is among the best bits of motor racing film I know. It seems that the original film is owned by the National Motor Museum and I shall see whether we can get hold of a copy. And there is a B20 in there as well if you search........... Post by: DavidLaver on 23 November, 2010, 07:21:26 PM The Alvis footage didn't seem quite right without steam puffing out the rad filler - or is that just me :( That Pikes Peak film was something else. For once the big scares were the understeer moments, only a couple but real butt clenchers. Those bumper level views of dust and sky were great. There's a similar view at the Semi Circle up the top of Prescot but its not all that big a drop and not all that fast for all it would smart a bit falling off. The Sloc Hill on the Isle of Man has some really big drops and while my memory is "all you see is sky" corners YouTube footage seems very tame. At least next to Prescot it had the "foot to the floor in 4th" pace that gets the ticker really going. In brief - thankyou for the posting!! David |
