Title: Lambda finishes 2nd in class
Post by: peterbaker on 19 July, 2010, 01:06:24 PM
Tim and Anne Riley finished second in class driving their very nice 1927 Lambda on the recent Summer Trial that finished Saturday, a competitive three day rally running through England and Wales made up of driving tests and regularities. I caught up with them at several locations and pics are included on www.retro-speed.co.uk. Well done.

Ten years back I met them on a rally when they had an Aprilia.  Just looked at the pics of them in the Lamda and the smiles say it all.  Am off to try and break into the kids piggy banks.

Aha, I recognise the gravelly bend (with the green grit box) as it's on my Wednesday delivery round to the Stiperstones at a place called The Bog - not as much fun in my Renault Trafic though!

I enjoyed getting lost in the maze of narrow lanes, it was an area popular during the mid seventies for Motoring News rallies when 200bhp from an Escort was considered only average. That was at night when no Renault Traffics were out and about.

Hi Peter

To be fair, rush hour in Shropshire is usually a consequence of a herd of cattle, an errant flock of sheep or a lumber lorry.

I found a couple more Lamba pics that are now added to gallery. BTW while I was hanging around 'the 'bog' waiting I got chatting to the cows. They want you to stop off and leave them a couple of lunch boxes.

I do like the Bristol on Minilites - hard to port.

A true idiosyncratic gentlemans carriage, Fiat could do worse than design the next Lancia along the lines of the current Bristol Fighter, a good idea, although maybe a touch expensive at £352,000.
