Title: warby's head
Post by: chugga boom on 18 July, 2010, 12:21:05 PM
for the last 4 yrs warby has needed a new head..................on his appia! anyway a simple hour an a half job turned into a bit of a nightmare, the center stud had corroded making removal of the old head impossible, the reason it needed changing was excessive smoke due to worn valve guides, father to the rescue by making adaptors for the puller to pull against the center stud, worked a treat, we found a few more problems as we were re-assembling, whoever had last had the valve gear off had left the tophat valve caps off the top of the valves causing severe wear to the valves and rockers, anyway to cut a very long story short the car runs brilliantly now , its stopped smoking , sounds loverly and quiet and apparently goes really well now, we had other problems to rectify at the same time including a bodged voltage regulater and burnt out dynamo as a result, so all in all a busy weekend
