Title: Original bill of sale from 1944 (as a secondhand car!) Post by: fensaddler on 15 June, 2010, 08:19:06 PM If anyone still has or knows of the car detailed below, I have been contacted by someone who by chance has found the bill of sale for the car, dating from 1944, when it was sold secondhand (he found it tucked inside a old book he bought!) - and he is happy to pass this on if of interest.

Title: Re: Original bill of sale from 1944 (as a secondhand car!) Post by: ColinMarr on 16 June, 2010, 08:34:45 PM The ex-Fred Townsend car was bought a couple of years ago by one Terence Donovan (apparently a photographer, but not THE photographer) who was/ is its enthusiastic new owner. I don’t know if Terence is an LMC member, but if he is on the register then I am sure he will be interested to know about this document.
It does seem a lot of money - at that time, the equivalent of more than one or two desirable London houses! Colin Title: Re: Original bill of sale from 1944 (as a secondhand car!) Post by: donw on 16 June, 2010, 09:21:49 PM The easiest way to find out if the car is registered with the Club is to ask the Membership Secretary!

Title: Re: Original bill of sale from 1944 (as a secondhand car!) Post by: fensaddler on 18 June, 2010, 07:24:10 PM The story has a happy, and if you think about the odds, a truly unlikely ending, as the car exists, the owner is found, and the paperwork is on its way to being reunited with the car for the first time in probably more than half a century...!
Title: Re: Original bill of sale from 1944 (as a secondhand car!) Post by: ColinMarr on 19 June, 2010, 08:12:05 AM Yes, a good and happy ending! Making connections like this is just one of the things a club is for – and an outcome that probably wouldn’t have happened without the Forum.

Post by: neil-yaj396 on 28 June, 2010, 05:42:52 PM You might just get a 1 series BMW for that, which might be a fair comparison (or could you import a new Delta?). Either way the Aprilia would be a bargain because quality cars were generally out of peoples reach in the '40's.
