Title: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: j886atv on 08 June, 2010, 01:10:31 PM According to Pistonheads
http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId=22038 Oh very dear............... :( Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: thecolonel on 08 June, 2010, 02:58:07 PM Ah but, on the upside you can buy a new Chrysler,
then pick up a set of "European" badges, that way you'll get a new right hand drive Lancia Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: lancialulu on 08 June, 2010, 03:49:20 PM Now thats what I would call badge engineering!
Could be a money maker for LMC (badge sets?)? Tim Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: fensaddler on 08 June, 2010, 06:26:20 PM Still not sure whether this means RHD Lancias or not? Will the Delta/Ypsi etc be sold as Chryslers over here, or are we just going to get the US made stuff?
Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: toby2449 on 08 June, 2010, 06:59:09 PM thats a very interesting point, Delta is already engineered to be RHD, so slapping a Chrysler badge on it (so we could buy one & slap a Lancia badge on it!) would be very easy, also, the Ypsilon replacement project was stalled due to the economic downturn, but that also was developed with Lancia's re-introduction to RHD markets in mind, so technically Chrysler in Ireland & UK could get both Delta & Ypsilon.
What is known for certain is Ypsilon is to be replaced 2011, a new Chrysler based MPV will replace the Phedra, a rebadged verson of Chrysler's Sebring (a totally new model - not the muck thats on sale currently), Lancia will also get a rebadged new generation 300c maybe using the Thema badge. At the moment, Lancia has Ypsilon, Musa, Delta & Phedra, the range will grow to 8 as both Lancia & Chrysler ranges are integrated. Thats going to call on some major investment for Lancia dealerships, as they'll need to accomadate a much larger range! So question is guys, when the ranges are integrated, would anyone buy a Chrysler & actually re-badge it Lancia - basically like Opel & vauxhall! Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: thecolonel on 08 June, 2010, 09:59:01 PM Well, if you remember there were so many grey import Eunos wearing MX5 badges
that Mazda refused to sell replacement badges unless you could prove you had an MX5. so badge engineering certainly has an effect. Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: fensaddler on 08 June, 2010, 10:57:40 PM So question is guys, when the ranges are integrated, would anyone buy a Chrysler & actually re-badge it Lancia - basically like Opel & vauxhall! I think the answer to that is likely to be yes - especially if the price is right! They aren't going to be able to ask premium prices for Chryslers in the UK... Title: Re: Lancia / Chrysler tie up happening Post by: toby2449 on 09 June, 2010, 05:32:29 AM actually my Opel/Vauxhall comment got me thinking, i wonder what differences the cars will have, eg 300c & new Thema? Will it literally just be a badge or are we talking some sheet metal, lights, grille etc....?
