Title: Which came first?
Post by: Aurelia Adam on 30 December, 2009, 02:19:34 PM
Here a couple of pics of a car with a strong familial link to the B20 GT.

It is, of course, a Pinin Farina design based on a Bentley Mk VI chassis called the Cresta Bentley.

It was shown at the Paris Salon in 1948 so I wonder which came first, the Cresta or the B20 GT?

Happy New Year to one and all.

See: http://carcatalog3.free.fr/hist15m1.htm for a small history of the Facel Farina Bentley Cresta.

The car was exhibited by the dealer Frank Dale at a recent Geneva Classics. The double F sign (for Facel-Farina) was a noteworthy feature.
I found the car heavy, and with none of the grace of the later R-Type Continental.

Which came first? I think it was the Cisitalia 202, shown in september 1947 in Milano, and designed by Alfredo Vignale for Stabilimenti Farina.

Sebastien

Thanks for the update.

As an aside, I know of at least 3 B20 GT owners (including myself) who are also members of the Bentley Drivers Club.  Obviously very different cars, but each have the same ideals of craftmanship, engineering, elegance and racing heritage.
