Title: Aprilia gearbox TAVa 16a
Post by: davidwheeler on 07 July, 2009, 07:27:35 PM
I have been struggling with my gearboxes and have taken the opportunity to restore the illustration in my fades photocopied 1st series handbook.  For your delectation and information here it is.

Actually, this official Lancia drawing is wrong!  38 19526 is spiral cut (meshes with 38 19518) as also is 38 19522 (meshes with 38 19516)  38 19521 meshes with 38 19511 which is displaced upwards on the drawing but its dogs engage with the sleeve 38 20003 when it slides forwards (to the left).   The second line of gears all fit onto the mainshaft 38 20001.  All very confusing.  38 20008 is a little double ball ended detent pin that controls 38 19517 which is straight cut and engages with the first/reverse pinions 38 19525 (1st) and 38 ????? the reverse pinion (number faded away).
