Title: Does anyone know this car - YK5337 ?
Post by: Harvey on 12 January, 2009, 09:28:21 AM
I've had the following e-mail from someone trying to trace family through a photograph with a car. Does anyone know the car in question?

"My husband is almost 79 years of age and is trying to trace family members (before it is too late!!)

We have a photo taken in about 1930 with a person who we thinks is his father standing beside his car.  We think it is a Lancia and the registration number is YK 5337.

Is there any way of knowing if this car is still in existance and if so any chance of a log book?

It is a long shot but it could solve a lot of mysteries.!!

Thank you

Sheila Cooper"

Hi Harvey,
Do you have a copy of the photo? as we really need to establish that it is in fact a Lancia first, with the help of our members with the older cars.

'YK' is a London number with the first issue date of June 1925, so my guess is that '5337' would be towards the end of the 1920s. If it is a Lancia it is most likely to be a Lambda

I've written to the enquirer advising that this car is not on our records and suggesting that it might be a Lambda.  If her father in law still had the car when the LMC started and joined there may be someone who might know of the car.
