Title: Top tips for cyclists
Post by: Harvey on 25 June, 2008, 11:08:02 PM
Now that summer's here, it can be quite enjoyable to cycle to your local LMC meeting. It also offers the chance to enjoy a drink without the guilt of driving afterwards. However, I'd like to offer some tips to make sure your evening does not contain unexpected adventure:

  • Check for road closures before setting out
  • Some roadworkers can be quite "jobsworth" and not let cyclists walk around roadworks (see above)
  • Take a pocket map, or a satellite navigation system
  • Be prepared for your return journey to take 45 minutes longer than expected (and possibly involve more hills than planned for)
  • Don't cycle on those nights when you have an early start the following morning and need to be tucked up in bed by 10pm

I hope others can learn from my experience.  ::)

I think once was enough for me. Being lost in the dark in the country lanes at 11pm was too much adventure for a Wednesday night, and I could barely walk this morning after the extra couple of hills.  :(

Perhaps Lancia should make a bicycle?
