Title: Flaminia exhaust, fuel tank, windscreen queries....
Post by: Parisien on 07 June, 2022, 09:05:32 AM
A further couple of queries from Denver.....anyone help?

"As a side issue, do you know the best source for a full stainless exhaust system for the car? Headers included. We’ll get them shipped to the US and brought over as luggage.

The previous owner (Mr William Le Roy) tells me that he had 30 new windscreens made and one is here and the rest went to UK/Europe. I guess your club members may have been involved with this some years back.

And…has anyone ever made new fuel tanks for these?"

There is a company in Finland who makes custom windscreens, they are not that expensive, not much above an off-the-shelf windscreens. The owner/CEO of the company is a Lancia fan and he also owns a Flaminia.

I did lend my car as model to a body shop that needed to produce some missing parts for another Flaminia Touring. Among the missing parts was the fuel tank, so I think it would be fairly easy to make a new one if you have an old one as pattern,

Classic Lancia for custom exhausts, I believe Chris (on the forum) has a set of these manifolds on his GT. https://www.classiclancia.com/car-parts/lancia-aurelia-flaminia-stainless-steel-exhaust-system?keyword=flaminia&category_id=0&description=on

Pilkington/NSG for windscreens, although for the Flaminia GT I believe you have to go through Omicron as Martin paid for the original buck, but could be wrong.

PD Gough replied to my enquiry regarding exhaust manifolds. £1000 or just under I think. I have heard talk of stainless steel manifolds being susceptible to cracking. Can this be true? Also does a full stainless system sound different to mild steel, or does the tail pipe govern the sound I wonder.

Yes, I fitted Classic Lancia's s/s headers about 18 months ago. No sign of cracking yet. Can't say I've noticed any performance improvement.
