Title: Outer CV Joint 1970 Flavia 2000
Post by: markinnes on 04 November, 2021, 04:10:44 PM
I'm needing a replacement outer CV Joint [not boot!] for my 1970 Flavia 2000 Coupe. Part no 1690235 I think. This part no. seems to be common to all Flavia's and 2000s from 1964 onwards. I've seen advertised on e-bay an outer CV joint as fitting both Flavia / Fulvia, but my Fulvia S2 Parts catalogue has a different part number - 1690230. I don't have a Fulvia S1 parts catalogue to find the part number pre 1970.

Pieces-Fulvia France have a different Fulvia S1 outer CV joint than the Fulvia S2, which makes me hopeful* that the Fulvia S1 outer CV fits the Flavia - but does any-one know for sure?

*except of course the S1 is even more £££ / euros  :o

Is it silly to replace my outer CV joint with second-hand of unknown provenance, should I splash out on new?

Thanks, Mark

Hi Richard

thanks for the reply. Yes, please send the link - I couldn't find it on Spares listing nor Sept VL - inc £ price. I will need to make sure S1 Fulvia and S2 Flavia are identical - unless you know / have the part no.? Also I need to decide if I should be going for new, I use my Flavia as daily driver. I'm told they are over-engineered, but mine has gone! Admittedly, my CV boot may have been split for more than a year, and missed by previous MOTs. Mark 07976 740155

What has "gone"? You can buy replacement balls (I think 19mm) from any good bearing supplier.

Link sent to your .net email. The original post was from 2013  'Fulvia 1300 spares for sale', but updated ad things have been sold. Richard

Tim, thanks for the advice. I haven't had the CV joint out to inspect yet, I just know it is rattling on cornering [off-side, loaded turning left]. Local garage advised me shouldn't disintegrate too quickly but would need replacement reasonably soon. Hadn't occurred to me to simply replace bearings. Do you know if S1 Fulvia outer CV fits 1970 Flavia 2000 Coupe part no. 1690235 [or 81690235]? Many thanks for your help.
