Title: indicator stalk switch
Post by: Oliveoils on 15 August, 2021, 06:00:21 PM
The indicators on my S3 have suddenly failed on the nearside . The offside are fine, and  the hazards work ok .
I have recently had the indicator/ light switch re-built and tested by a well known specialist , and this has been working fine.
In order to eliminate a failure of the switch,I bravely, ( and carefully ) took it apart, cleaned all the contacts, and reassembled it once satisfied there were no obvious issues. I still have no n/side indicators !
I am still highly suspicious that the switch may be the issue, but before I send it back to the repairer I would like to test it and and confirm that there is a problem. Can anybody with experience advise on an easy method of testing the indicator function of the switch,  or advise on any further faults i should perhaps be looking for ?

Hi there, A quick check would be to disconnect the multi plug from the indicator stalk, containing White, Blue & Blue/Black wires. Turn on the ignition, the white wire is the feed from the flasher unit. In turn bridge the white to the Blue and Blue/Black, this should work each side it turn.
Good Luck.

Thanks very much for the tip. Method worked like dream and soon confirmed a switch  fault.
Sent the whole thing back to Omicron who very quickly and cheerfully diagnosed a dry solder joint and returned the unit foc. So job done. Many thaks for you help.
