Post by: Sliding Pillar on 08 February, 2021, 01:59:28 PM
The new dates for the Sliding Pillar Rally are Saturday 28th May to Friday 3rd June 2022.

Hopefully we won't have to postpone it again. More details can be found in the original listing for the event. http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=11040.0

Are there any spare places for 2022?

Almost unnoticed in this forum, the 2020 Sliding Pillar Rally finally has taken place. In many respects, it has been a different SPR. Credit goes to Ade and Sarah Rudler who made it possible despite the enormous paperwork involved due to the two times postponement. They have made possible an interesting rally which was much appreciated by the attending regular Lancisti and the fresh faces.

Different from other rallies, there were less participants than usual. The location of the hotel required several ferry trips, some with the cars, some as foot passengers. The location of the hotel(s) was again superb, with magnificent views over the sea or Loch Ness. Special was driving on single lane roads, sometimes for an hour or more, very scenic, and away from traffic. The good weather added to the pleasure.

The event was not without drama as one of the regulars had a fall and hurt himself painfully. He spent a night in hospital for checking and joined the crowd the next day, equipped with crutches.

As for the cars, there were some minor technical problems to be solved, easy, as there were technical experts present in abundance.

A nice selections of Lancia models were seen: Lambda, no less than 4 Augusta/Belna, Aprilia, Appia 3, Aurelia B10/12/20, Flavia, Flavia convertible, a Flaminia coupé.

For Ursula and me, it was the most distant SPR so far, in an impressive landscape and among friendly people. The total distance we have driven was 3300 km (2000 m).

Thanks for your kind comments Karl. I must admit that after the time spent doing 4 years of organisation, not to mention the stress of changing the dates twice, I am relieved that the rally is over, everything went to plan and I don't have to think about it again!
I have sent some photos to Jack, and I believe others have done the same, so there should be a report in the next Viva Lancia.

Agree completely with Karl - it was a brilliant event made perfect by really fabulous weather. We had never been to this part of Scotland and now regret not doing it earlier.

B10 behaved well in the care of daughter Georgina and Charlie but Aprilia stopped a dozen times on 13h journey home and was restarted by AA twice and rest by me! Still sorting electrics and now have starting and running, lights, brighter indicators but no wipers or interior lights. Discovered at least 2 variations from the circuit diagram in handbook and a misprint!

Apologies for parking my car the wrong way round and spoiling the photo! I was going to turn it round but I never got back to that hotel, as I ended up in hospital after fracturing my pelvis on Mull.
