Title: 2000 Sedan at ACA
Post by: bobhenry999 on 27 December, 2020, 04:39:55 PM
Hi chaps,

Do any of you know anything about the 2000 Sedan that’s in the Anglia Car Auction sale in January,
It’s registered FLA 200C ?

Justin,

I agree, it does look like a nice one, although I suspect that the carpets aren’t correct, as I believe that they should be that olive green type.
I did have a silver 2000 sedan some years ago that was beautiful, and I even managed to win the LMC concours with it and quite fancy getting another to replace my 815 coupe that I am thinking of selling as it is getting to be difficult for me due to major shoulder surgery earlier this year.

This is the ex Les Ostinelli 2000 that’s being sold by John Read of Swaffham. It’s as good as it looks on the ACA website.

Derek,

Thanks for that. I’m trying to get hold of ACA to find out what the situation is with regards to viewing but having no luck, so I will try again after the new year holidays are over.

Les Ostinelli always had the most perfect Lancias. If it has been maintained properly since he died, I wouldn't hesitate in buying this car.

Thanks for the information about the viewing times. ACA are not open until Monday the 4th, so I’ll give them a call after the weekend and book a viewing slot.

I’ve been in touch with John and if any interested parties pm me I can put you in touch as he’s happy to pass on any info required. He is downsizing so is selling this and the Monte Carlo also in the sale.
Regards

I would love this car - I learnt to drive in a similar 2000 ie and they are fantastic, refined machines .....

The crunching gear changes unappetising too!
Hopefully just a cold start and ham fisted application.
The exhaust sounds a bit  noisy, at least, compared to my 2000hf coupe.
Even so a very good example and very tempting!

It's a nice looking car , it seems to be widely advertised in classic cars magazine and the internet , I'ts strong money for a 2000 sedan but if you compare it to other mundane classic car saloons on sale at the moment it looks like good value .
It would be interesting to see if there is anyone outside the Lancia fold willing to take it on .
most people shopping for a classic saloon car in Britain or Ireland would be looking for a simple  home grown product like a Ford or Vauxhall , Unless they are into superb engineering  and fine build quality it wont be on their radar.
The 2000 saloon was my first Lancia love when a neighbor had one in the early 70s  , Iv'e been smitten ever since .
The crunching gearbox  doesn't sound great nor does the noisy  exhaust , but if you were to restore one to the condition the body is in you would surely  spend in excess of £8,000.00 .
It's worth bidding on but don't get carried away  :)

Wise words, Dave.
I suspect the interest will be confined to us Lanciisti. The documented values of the 2000 Sedans are too low to attract the trade and/or wider audience.
Good point about the cost of restoration to this standard although many would argue that a restoration, however good, cannot replicate the feel of a very good condition  original.
Like you my love of Lancias was first kindled when my older brother bought a 2000 Sedan in the 1970s!

I thought the exhaust sounded blown. Not sure about the gearchange noise although I was surprised to hear it.
Has the car ever had much corrosion related bodywork done like subframe mounts, wheel arches or door bottoms?

Chaps,

I’m sure that most of you know already but for those who don’t, the ACA auction has been postponed until 13th/14th February.

Wow what a result, plus the other Lancias that went through. John Read was watching online through his TV with the family in tow. Gonna cost him a few treats! Anyone on here buy it??

Yes, you could watch it all on their YouTube channel live as they went through. I feel that it also helped contribute to the high bids and can see it will continue to work that way once the world settles down again, not just open for people to get in the way, It's always been havoc there when I've been, sardines waiting for your toes to get run over, much safer for all concerned this way. Viewing can be done prior by appointment so it all makes sense.
But yes, what a result.
And who would have thought a Bond Bug would make £27k!
The Fulvia sport Zagato made good money considering condition, around £12k if I recall. Likewise the Beta Spyder did well, MonteCarlo too at just shy of £20k.
E type that still needed loads of time and money throwing at it for over £50k anyone? Well, someone thought it worth doing!
Only bargain I saw go through was a Karmann Ghia, not my cup of tea at all, but it had been media blasted and primed which most likely put people off. For me it meant you could see what you were buying rather than shiny paint over rust and filler, looked to have most parts in the car and stuff isn't that hard to find with its' Beetle heritage. Not expensive I thought at around £2k, or look at it another way for the price of stripping, blasting and priming your car you got a Karmann Ghia for free!
