Title: [SOLVED] - Sticking on badges on your Car
Post by: sparehead3 on 09 April, 2008, 11:50:54 AM
Here's a question : technical but general so I've put it here :

What would you use to stick on a badge onto a car eg: the "integrale" badge on the tailgate ?

Hi . We use badge tape in our body shop, should be able to get from any good motor factors. Basically its  double sided tape, but about 1mm thick.

or if the badge had previously been removed and needs to be put back a few dabs of superglue

A paint shop got a roll for me of a 3M tape for holding on body mouldings and badges so it should be easily obtainable, just don't ever try to take the badge off again ;D it will probably take the paint with it, it's that good :o

Thanks for the info chaps, I was kinda worried about the superglue but it had obviously crossed my mind !

I'm visiting a body shop so will see what I can get ...

Steve,
the superglue route is only when there is residue on the car (from the old badge) and you're
putting the same badge back.

if it's a new badge then the double-sided foam is the only way, it comes on rolls 10 - 25 mm wide
and you will recognise it by the green plastic peel off strip. Don't use the other colours as they
all have specific uses. ask nicely at a local bodyshop and they may give you enough for the badge.

I've used EvoStik on my badges and it works really well.

You have to ensure that you coat both surfaces and wait until the tack has gone before putting the parts together.  And of course you only get one go at positioning the badge but thatr goes for double-sided tape too!

To be honest if you use proper bodyshop trim tape and don't press hard it can usually be moved
until you're happy then press hard and leave.
