Title: Fire stick
Post by: Paul Johnson on 27 April, 2020, 10:29:43 PM
A quick search on the site didn't reveal this particular item being discussed before (fire extinguishers have with some sorry tales), so I was wondering what experience people have of these fire sticks from glossfireaction?

I have always carried an extinguisher in my cars, and this product looks interesting - more expensive for sure , but requires no maintenance or servicing and has a decent shelf life.
Any experience/thoughts?
Paul

Oh yes, what about a Club discount ? - they say they can do!

I have never had occasion to use one of these(thank goodness) but I have one in each of our cars, old and modern.

A lightweight fire fighting device? I think it uses a Potassium 'jet'. For home / boat/ car etc. No mess I suppose. Has anyone here used one?

Like Chris, I have one in each of my cars.

Originally they are called "Mangiafuoco", "Fire Eater", which I think better suits the product. They have been available for many years in Italy, and imported also into other countries like Switzerland, but difficult to find.
http://www.mangiafuoco.biz/index.html

They work by sucking off the oxygen in a fire, and having tested it on an open fire (not on a car), it works very well. Important for me, they leave no residue, that corrodes what is underneath, and is difficult to clean off.

You will always find someone to tell you it is not the best solution, you should use Halon, or something similar, very expensive, and difficult to mount in your car.

But I personally think it is a great solution to a serious problem!

Last remark: It should be fitted always in the same place : in the Aurelia I fit it under the glovebox, the holding clips are fitted to the outside of the battery housing. Not visible, but easy to get at, when needed.

I asked my son Jonathan (Assistant Chief Fire Officer West Sussex) about it and having studied their website he felt that they were a useful piece of kit. His only concern was that as they were oxygen depleting they could be a hazard if used in a confined space.

I am led to believe from a video available on YouTube by Jay Leno who reviews the product with the designer, that they are not O2 depleting, but who am I to argue with an Assistant Chief Fire Officer😳

Anyway, I’m interested, does anybody know how to get the Club discount and have those who have already purchased gone for the small, medium or big one?
Thanks

I have ordered one small 25 second model, via the website details in the recent VL https://www.glossfireaction.co.uk/buy-now, applied the code - 10% discount on the checkout page.

I put the 50 second version in each of our cars and a couple of 100 second versions (not listed by the UK agent) in our garage.

I have just chatted to Pep re discount....If you look ever so closely above his website address there is a LMC discount code when buying on line. Just thought I would mention as I missed it having looked for it 3 times.... (obviously Neil has found it and it is 10%).
