Title: Sequence for bleeding brakes
Post by: andyps on 03 March, 2020, 09:32:08 PM
Having fully refurbished the brake system on my S2 with rebuilt calipers, a new master cylinder and a couple of new pipes I need to refill it with fluid. I know with some cars the sequencing for bleeding is critical but the workshop manual doesn't mention anything but thought I would see if anyone recommends anything in particular.

A good previous thread here: http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=823.0 (http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=823.0)

This reference is useful too: https://viva-lancia.com/fulvia/qanda/brakes/bleeding.php (https://viva-lancia.com/fulvia/qanda/brakes/bleeding.php)

Many thanks, I hadn't found either of those threads. I have both an eezibleed and a vacuum bleeder so hopefully will get the system bled properly with one of those and the help of gravity! Along with the correct sequence of course.

I have rigged up something similar to ezibleed on my S2 but kept the pressure low <5psi. Depending on the condition of the reservoir there may be leakage through the spade terminals at the top. But you dont want to blow the reservoir...

I also bleed without but patience is required for the first hour or so as the fluid makes its way through the system. once weeping out of the furthest nipple it is a simple matter with aid of a "peddle pusher".

Oh and do not try to bleed S2/3 at the back with the rear axle hanging down as fluid will be restricted by the brake compensator at the rear axle.

Thanks, it's on axle stands under the axle cross beam so shouldn't have that issue, except I haven't adjusted the compensator yet.

Compensator to be adjusted with the wheels on the ground, no spare wheel in the boot, low petrol in the tank. Andrea
