Title: Rolling road & carb set up recommendations
Post by: motoloco on 05 January, 2020, 07:01:11 PM
Hi
My S1 1.3 S runs very well, ticks over evenly and, apart from a slight hesitation when accelerating from part-throttle, pulls well. But it runs rich, with a strong exhaust smell and the back panel quickly gets sooty (it’s a white car).
It has an Omicron Gp4 exhaust and also a pair of their fast road cams, but standard Solex carburettors.
Can anyone recommend someone with Fulvia/Solex experience who can set the car up properly?
I’m near Silverstone Circuit and someone local-ish, if possible, would be great.
Thanks
Nick

Cant recommend anyone but sounds  overfuelling. Float valve, fuel pressure and float level all culprits. I suspect this is running over rich at lowish revs which will not be a problem driven hard and long.

Hi Nick, we have used EDM motorsport. Nr Launton, Bicester, to cure a driveability problem on a Formula Junior Race car. He did a good job for us, worth a call. Tel. 01869 278942. We are based near Silverstone, so it wasn`t too far to go.  Also Northampton Motorsport, on Rothersthorpe Trading Estate. Tel. 01604 766624.

Good Luck

I had a similar issue and L&M, in Buckinghamshire, did a great job on tuning the Solex carbs on my Fulvia (http://italiancarservicing.co.uk/ (http://italiancarservicing.co.uk/)).
A quick look on google maps shows they're about an hour away from Silverstone so not as close as Jaydub's suggestions but I thought them worthy of mention.
