Title: Link between Lancia, Pininfarina & XK120
Post by: Flamfan on 03 November, 2019, 03:08:47 PM
Not sure if this has already been posted, but tells the story of a
link between a champion cyclist, the 2nd World War, Pininfarina,
a beautiful Lancia and the Jaguar XK120.

It makes a good story, but the Jaguar XK120 was launched about the same time as this Aprilia was built; the XK120 design can be linked back to a pre-war Jaguar SS100 coupe, which in turn can be linked to other Italian coachbuilt cars of the late 1930s ... Basically there was a common design theme running through several makes and models way before this Aprilia saw the road.

It is beautiful though!
Some of this design lineage goes back to the BMW 328 of the 1930's, a Schuco clockwork version of which I had when I were a lad.
