Post by: lancialulu on 26 April, 2019, 09:01:21 AM
I write to you on behalf of Finarte, Italian auction house based in Milano, again for this year, we are organizing an auction at Brescia the 13th of May for the Mille Miglia.
We have a very lovely Lancia Aurelia B24S - chassis no. B24S-1241 - the 60th car of the II series, in beautiful conditions, with a comprehensive restoration in 2015, (with photographic documentation.). We offer it at 420.000€, and we also have an Aurelia B20 GT 2500 berlinetta Pinin Farina and a 1952 Lancia Aurelia B21.
If anyone in your club will be interested in it, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I also have the pleasure to invite your members to our car's exposition at the Museo della Mille Miglia, form the 11th to the 13th of May.

For any others info, please don't hesitate to contact me,
Thanks a lot. Best regards.

A short catalogue but a lot of lovely cars. I was particularly taken by the Augusta that was the outright winner of the 1936 Targa Florio. A very surprising part of Lancia racing history that had somehow passed me by. Doesn't seem expensive compared to many of the cars in the sale, at an estimate of 80-100k Euros, as long as the history is watertight. There can't be another Targa Florio winner that isn't several times more expensive, but then again they probably have multiple times greater performance!

Lots of interesting cars for sale and thank goodness I will be away!
I particularly like the look of the B21 as it hasn't been messed around with.
In the text for the B24S Convertible, there is mention of 3 series of cars made? Maybe I need to re-read my most detailed Aurelia literature as I thought there were only 2 series of B24S Convertible - those based upon 5th series B20 with an upright fuel tank behind the driver like Jacky's and the later ones which were very much 6th series cars with the fuel tank under the rear floor.
Or maybe the writer is trying to suggest that B24 Spiders were the 1st series (in an effort to work the price up) ?
By the way, three B24S Convertibles sold in Europe in 2018, each for > €500k apparently
Chris

The many Lancias are nice and interesting, but the estimates are very optimistic.
They seem to want to use this year's Mille Miglia ambiance to sell many cars that are deemed "MM capable".

We will see.

My memory of Augustas on the Targa was that one year only six cars turned up and they were all Augustas.  That wasn't quite the case, but almost...

Lovely wide angle photo of the interior from the side.  The fuel dip stick is something I'd not seen (or noticed) elsewhere.  Were twin spares an option or a mod?

MM results, 1935 (cabriolet!), 1936 (not mentioned in auction text but 29th and 2nd in class) and 1937 (17th).

Until I get my Augusta's float gauge working I am using a steel ruler - kept in exactly the same spot as in the picture.
Twin spares seem pretty common and my car has them - I don't know why Augustas particularly would need two.

I reckon the MM provenance is responsibly for the unbelievable price expectation.

Just checked on my car - the Limite obbligato d'immersion would be over the top of the filler cap!!! Better take care with that.

Check also the Automobilia catalogue on the Finarte website.
Quite a lot of Lancia related documents, including original driver's handbooks, spare parts catalogues, and some nice Mille Miglia Lancia pictures.
From Lambda to Aurelia.

Price estimates? Don't ask! It's Mille Miglia time!
