Title: Handbrake cable replacement
Post by: andyps on 10 April, 2019, 09:52:22 PM
The handbrake cable on my S2 Sport snapped at the weekend. Am I right in thinking the hubs need to come off to replace it? I rebuilt all the rear brake components but none of the photos I took clearly show if the cable is inside the drum or operates on a lever outside the back plate.
The cable snapped whilst moving the car on the end of a tow rope on our sloping drive. It was being moved to allow access for a new garage being built to house the car so I'm just needing to decide whether to wait until the car is in the garage or replace the cable first.

You need to get access to the drum mechanism so unfortunately need to pull hub / drum off .

Thanks Guys, I thought it was like that but couldn't remember. Frustrating having thought I'd got all the brakes sorted. I'll leave it until it is in the new garage and on a level surface I think.
