Title: Roger Bowen
Post by: will on 13 January, 2019, 11:57:56 AM
I have just heard that one of my oldest  friends in the Lancia Motor Club, Roger Bowen, has died in France. I don’t have any details but will post on here when I do.

Sad news, he was always great fun to be with. We last saw him a couple of years ago on a Lancia Club France sortie, he was a bit more stooped but still had a great sense of humour ..... we'll miss him

Sad news, I remember having a ride with him in his black B20 in a farmyard in Byfleet, Surrey in the 1980s.

Oh, how very sad. Roger was a wonderful host and house guest. So many memories of good times with him in the UK and abroad. Jacky and I will miss him.

So sorry to hear the sad news Will, I remember first meeting Roger when you and Roger drove your Aprilia to Lake Orta and Fobello on Frank Dehler's trip back in 1997.
He will be sadly missed.

I too have fond memories of Roger although I hadn’t seen him in recent years. When I knew Roger he had two B20s, a very nice 6th Series car and a more sporty 4th Series, both LHD.   I can’t find a good photo of Roger, but here are some snaps of his 4th Series car.

These were taken at Barry Waterhouse’s workshop off the Walworth Road, south east London in the late 1980s. Barry was busy optimising jets in the carbs and using a probe up one exhaust to check on progress. In the absence of a rolling-road my task was to sit up-front with the suitcase sized control box on my lap, and to call out the readings while we did some high-revving laps around the streets of Bermondsey, which was Barry’s test circuit. I think Roger was quite pleased with the results!

Very sad news.
We have fond memories of Roger, accompanied by Dibbs, at numerous events in Europe.

Does anyone have details of Rogers funeral service please?
Jacky and I would ideally like to pay our respects if at all possible.
Chris

Roger Bowen's funeral and interment will be in the UK. This will be a private affair for relatives and close friends.
There will be a Memorial Service in the Spring. The date and venue will be announced later and all those who knew Roger will be most welcome to attend.
