Title: Aurelia hub cap script
Post by: chriswgawne on 15 October, 2018, 07:14:15 AM
I feel I should know the answer to this but on both aluminium (early cars) and chrome plated (later cars) Aurelia hubcaps, the script which stands proud in the centre of the hubcap is often painted in the 'lower' areas if you understand me..
What colour was used back in the day? Was it body colour or Lancia blue or unpainted? I have seen all variants on restored cars but what was originally offered by the factory?

When we bought our B20 back in 1977 it had been used as a daily hack until about 1967 and then stored. So I assume that the hub caps were as original as the rest of the car. The script on the hub caps was black.

The originals on my B12, plus a much better spare  set, plus another single spare all have black paint in the recess of the letters.

My blue B12 has original (ie non restored original hubcaps) black lettering.
