Title: New Member Post by: drdafeller on 18 September, 2018, 08:09:34 PM Good evening!
I don't see an intro thread so thought I would meet the membership here. I have long wanted a Fulvia Coupe and have recently found a 1.3S that I am having restored . This ticks all sorts of bucket-list boxes for me, including: 1) owning an Italian car; 2) having a car with a red interior; 3) getting involved in vintage car events. I am going to Italy in October to see the car and the shop where it is being done, and hoping that we stay to schedule (it seems likely--the shell has turned out to be in really good shape) which will see the car delivered in the early Spring. The amount of peer pressure I am under to bring it home to the UK via a Grand Tour is rather shocking, not the least of which is coming from the other half. I'm happy to be a new member and have already learned an enormous amount from you all in the forum. I am happy to report that it all seems strangely fated: my carpool partner grew up the daughter of a Lancia dealer in Lincolnshire, and when her father learned that I was getting a Fulvia he had my friend deliver to me his personal collection of Lancia books, including a rather charming factory publication which details all of the cars produced by Lancia up to 1989! Very fun stuff. I hope to meet you all soon at a club event. Thanks for having me! You must drive it home! A great way to get to know your car. Having said that, given the distance from southern Italy a good plan would be to drive it locally for a few days as part of the restoration "shake down/warranty" before making the big drive back to the UK. A number of us more foolish folk have done such a journey. Tim Title: Re: New Member Post by: DavidLaver on 19 September, 2018, 09:13:07 AM A friend of a friend is getting quite serious with YouTube. One of his early sets of films was a trip back from Italy in a 500 he bought there. This is a summary cut he did about a year after: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leuMuODnp8M Parts 1,2,3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V1w6qBuJj3s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IgO5the3CM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efIonV9CMfo |
