Thanks Greg.
Only a painted shell but it certainly gives an idea of the final shape, unless it's still one of the pre-production vehicle. certainly worth looking at the cars for sale as well, have a look at the Appia special

The special would be just the thing to go to the sliding pillar in!  But surely the price is rather high @ E21k they must be joking.

Hi Don,
Must admit I did think he was having a bit of a laugh ;D Don Cross reckons he was offered it years ago for a few hundred pounds, but as it was an unknown type the owner couldn't get it registered in Holland.

just getting back to the topic, how mad would you have to be to leak a video like that?? thats one employee who is pretty confident of their job security!

ROLL ON GENEVA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Definitely roll on Geneva. Doesn't look as big as has been hinted (which is fine by me) - it looks a classic Focus/Astra sized motor rather than something half a class up in size.

yeah, have to agree doesn't look as tall as i had feared, can't wait to see it in the flesh in geneva!

Chech out this weeks copy of Auto Express as this includes an article on the New Lancia Delta. Or on the web at http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/news/autoexpressnews/216978/lancia_delta.html

i still love the exterior, but a little sad that the interior is just a carbon copy of the Bravo's just with a different steering wheel.

There is an interview with Olivier Francois about Lancia and the UK at www.lanciasport.com/LS_press_latest.htm

Mr non-Commital isn't he?  Maybe in the UK by the end of the year - come on matey, you must know by now.  And if you're not here this year, I can't have one, because my company car changes in Jan 09.

Current issue of Autocar, pages (yes, plural) twelve and thirteen. 'Delta starts Lancia comeback'.

Title: Re: New Delta
Post by: fensaddler on 15 February, 2008, 09:06:16 PM
The Autocar editorial is interesting - wishes Lancia well but worries about how well the company will fare in the UK.  The article on the Delta suggests it won't be in the UK until 2009, which is part of what is worrying me about timing.  But then the article is full of errors - no recognition, for example, that Lancia has built a prototype of the Fulvia on the new Punto platform, and not just on the Barchetta platform in 2003 (that is right isn't it - we had pictures linked onto here a few months ago?).

Im going to spend a couple of days at the Geneva show over the weekend 8th/9th March with Lin, to witness the Delta launch on behalf of Club Lancia Sport. If anyone else from whichever club is also attending lets meet up and at least have dinner together.

I've been musing over the idea of going to Geneva for a week or two - but that weekend looks horribly expensive on flights and accomodation - the cheapest package just for me is working out to around £300.  Some time in the following week looks cheaper, so I may still be tempted...

If you go mid-week out of Birmingham with BMI baby.com and can put up with booking via their complicated web-site a return fare should be around £60.00. Accomodation is avaliable for around 100euro a night, I suggest staying south of the city in the French area, say at a Novotel. The exhibition is right next to the airport with a good connection so you could take a 06.30 flight and be back same day if you wanted. Entry by our standards is cheap at around 14SF or seven pounds. See you there

BMI doesn't appear to do flights which allow a day trip, but flying out one day (arriving about 1.30) and flying back the next (about 2), and staying overnight is possible, and costs around £75 all in, midweek.  Looks like there is plenty of cheap hotel accomodation in the city centre and also a Novotel and Campanile in the vicinity.

Annoying site - couldn't get it to do anything other than play bad music, and blitz me with fuzzy pictures and chunks of no doubt flowery Italian.  Pictures, specs?  No chance.

Anyway - good news.  The flights are booked, and the hotel sorted - along with Steve and Andy I'll be at Geneva on the 12th and 13th.  Hopefully we'll see you there... ;D

Where are you flying from - staying and what sort of money are we talking?  :)

Flying from Birmingham to Geneva on BMI Baby, which is about £70 return on the days we are flying, and staying in one of the Formule 1 basic hotel chains - 31 euros per 3 bed room. Probably a bit like youth hostelling...  There is also plenty of cheap accomodation in Geneva city centre (go to the Geneva Tourism website linked from the main motor show website) and the usual array of Campanile and Novotel type hotel chains.  Entry to the show is only about £7, so your main cost would be flying.  Easy Jet also fly to Geneva, Ryan Air don't.  Hope that lot helps!

Look for an ETAP rather than F1, that way you get the loo & shower in your room, we've used them frequently while travelling through France, thing is with F1 you share the loos And showers, & you have to keep a lower cheek pressed against the water button if you don't want the shower to keep stopping :o, I see the colonel is using an Etap at Southampton for the Gamma Meet. Highly recommended, not a bad continental breakfast either.

Yes thanks - Think I might do it in a day and go from Luton or Gatwick. Works out about £85 - £105 from what I can see.

Have a look again you dismissives!

It’s now available in English and they are starting to put some meat on the bones.

At least Lancia are trying to do something different and push the boundaries with their web presence, which is what I thought the brand was all about? Or do you prefer looking at the Audi and BMW websites?  ;D

Thanks for the info on Geneva guys. I'm booked on 13th March flying out on the earlybird with Easyjet from Gatwick and back on the last plane that day. It's going to be a long day!

Anyone fancy meeting up for an espresso?

Hi Alan
Certainly a bit easier to understand in English, but I don't see the point of misty pictures, perhaps when it's released at Geneva the pictures will suddenly come clear so you can see what you're looking at. Still hate the "MusiK" that sounds like it's coming from the bottom of a tinny bucket, full marks for effort, but not a lot for success.

Press the enter key when you're in the misty pictures section, and you'll get text on the left.  This explains that the pictures are being revealed slowly, as the days pass.  Fewer will be misty and more clear.  Its getting better, especially if you leave the music off, and its much btter when you understand the text.  Definitely some car - I like those lights!!

Sounds like you need a new computer and speakers to boot Brian ;D The music sounds quite uplifting on my machine, just a pity they couldn't loop it properly.

Dig a little deeper as Fensaddler has and there are things to find like exclusive Zip Downloads. That car gets more and more stunning everytime I see it! Can't wait to see it at Geneva.

Looks like this site is the pan-european "marketing lifestyle tool" for the new Delta, so it's either like it or lump it.  ;D :'(
