Title: Ypsilon - what is it worth?
Post by: M666 EVO on 27 February, 2018, 03:53:14 PM
Through a strange twist of fate, my HPE may well be making way for an Ypsilon.

What should I pay for a Ypsilon in black 2002, 1.2 16v, FSH, new MOT and dealer warranty - poss buying from a specialist.

And is it a pain to insure? Always fancied one of these as a town car...

A number of people have run them and I haven't heard any horror stories about insurance. I suspect they are so few and far between in this country that valuing one is a case of what else you could get for the money. I have rarely seen one advertised for sale. There are a couple on e-bay.it asking 2,000 euros and 3,000 euros respectively which surprised me.

Sold both of mine a few years back, got a few hundred each, wouldn’t pay much more for one now. Back then insurance companies based the premium on them being “sort of like a Punto” so had them insured with mainstream insurers

Exactly that, I found a couple abroad and that's it. The garage are asking far too much for it anyway and my HPE would have to go in part ex so that's not going to happen. I'd get one if it was more a few hundred than couple of thousand!

We run a 2005 16V petrol model that was UK registered but neglected. Now sorted although the paintwork still bears signs of its illustrious past gained on the streets of Turin. At the moment I don't know of any other 2nd series registered and used in the UK, which I guess makes it pretty rare.

There was a multi jet diesel series 2 for sale through Auto Integrale a few years back, two tone with leather. Easy 60mpg when I borrowed it for a trial

I bought a 2002 LHD model about a year ago and have not found a reasonable insurance for it. For a car valued at, say £650, the only insurance company (Adrian Flux) I could find who would quote wanted £1,000 for a year's insurance, Third party only, with a £500 excess! I will sell the cat when I get round to it. Regards, John

What has the CAT done wrong John? Seems a bit harsh to sell it and it would come back anyway:)
