Title: FCA Heritage Car Authentication
Post by: lancialulu on 10 December, 2016, 10:36:28 AM
It seems this has been launched.

Not fully populated with Lancia Models (could not see Fulvia, Flavia etc) and you need an Italian mobile number (!) to get the form accepted. I have asked FCA to amend this to be international.

It seems just a portal to put your request in then you will receive a request to pay or something before you get your car details

Also would be nice to have a language button as I suspect there might be another person who is not fluent in Italian - indeed struggles beyond pizza and spumante!

Brian

I was using google chrome and it automatically translated to English. If not automatic then right click the mouse button and select translate to English option.

I do not hold much hope of hearing about my vehicle enquiry - we will see!

Hi All,

I just did this for my Flaminia - they responded and after paying €20 I got the data from FCAs production register. I did have to agree to Ts&Cs in Italian - but hey iTunes Ts&Cs might as well be in Italian - I still agree to them!

They have a bit to learn from the likes of British Motor Heritage in terms of presentation - what I got was an email with a few bullet points!

They were able to supply all the numbers for the body, diff, engine gearbox etc as well as original colour and interior (confirming that I have put it back to how it left the factory). They also gave me the precise build date which was interesting - previously I knew only the year from the chassis number.

Unfortunately they had no information as to where the car was first sold...

Cheers
Dave

Dave what did you do for the mobile number required????

Hi Dave

It just occurred to me that this would be a useful new attribute to add onto the club database for vehicles - do you get a reference number or anything ?

While we record the 'colour' of a vehicle, there's nothing to record the 'interior' and this too could be added on.

They don't actually use the mobile number - so I just entered my U.K. Number

On colours they came back to me with the following:
Exterior colour : grey new market
Interior : skin, colour black

Cheers
Dave

Interesting - I have been very happy with the original service so will try the online (and cheaper ) option. How long did the process take ? Is the reply in English only or English /Italian ?

I saw the article/advert? on Page 7 of December 2017 VL! and decided to give this a go.

I can a call back from someone in FCA in Milan today asking exactly what I was after and then got sent the link to use -

https://www.fcaheritage.com/en-uk/classic-services/lancia-certificate-origin

- I've now filled that in and expect to get contacted again and will update this thread when I know more

Hi

Update: the link worked and FCA contacted me a day later with the details they have on the car and whether I wanted to proceed with the paper copy at 70EUR or electronic copy at 30EUR. I have replied to this - paper copy for me !

This is the disappointing news that I received-

Dear Mr Greenway,

With reference to your request I inform you that there is no information on your car, we are sorry but unfortunately in the past the Lancia Museum, which managed the Lancia archives, did not keep any production register or other list of Lancia Fulvia Sport (Series 818.750).

Best regards

This true is for most if not all Fulvias

I think most Fulvia records were lost in a flood?

Having said that, I did give it a try the other day anyway. Just had a reply - they don't have mine as they didn't keep all the records of the Coupe 1.3 (Series 818.630). Does that mean they have some or literally didn't keep ALL the records?

I tried it for my 1970 HF1600 series 2 and they came back we have no records for the Fulvia and can't help you, so I guess all records for the Fulvia.

FCA has send me the link for the copy so it's just been ordered and paid for. Will let you know when it turns up ... UK was not listed as a selectable address so I just typed everything in as best I could ....

yes when I met them at Padova they went through it and something like "speed address" came up. I pointed out that we are not familiar with that term.....

Yes I saw that and the Zipcode field isn't large enough for a UK Postcode. But having worked with the club database and the membership addresses there is nothing standard about them around the world :)

Yes but they said that they would fix it.....

I've just completed payment for a certificate; everything was quite straight forward once I identified the Italian for Great Britain (I was looking for UK!) and the zip code took a standard UK 7-digit postcode no problem.

Ok, I couldn't find Great Britain ( Gran Bretagna I assume ) - should've googled it !

Steve,
I believe the UK in Italian is REGNO UNIDO from memory.

It is Regno Unito, and you do actually often see it used nowadays. In the past it would have seemed pompous, perhaps rightly, and Gran Bretagna, or even shockingly Inghilterra, might have been usual.

Ciao a tutti

Would have been nice if he had shown what was on the authentication certificate and how relevant!

Brian that is the top level certificate costing c600eu and an "engineer" crawls over the car and documents a file (ring binder style) file on the car. It is only 600eu to do one car but much cheaper if a batch was done - at the AGM??

Hi All, as an update the document arrived today via DHL - one day late because of the snow - so that's two weeks ( basically ).

I've added thoughts on extending the database to record this here : http://www.lancia.myzen.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=10044.0

I can't believe that. When Lancia Club Italy used to be asked for this kind of information, it was to hand. Where is it now?

Paul,
Being cynical, why give the information away when you can make money out of it, so thats probably where the information went.

I am still waiting for the info on my Aprilia Cabrio, I made the request in Feb last year, asked again in August and December, had the 70 euros debited from my account before Christmas .......

When I asked for the same thing for the Aprilia berlina several years ago it came back within a week - progress !

Is there an Italian Aprilia Club ( like the excellent Italian Appia Club ) who might help I wonder?

Yes Brian, but if someone is prepared to pay and they still don't have any info it does not work.
The Lancia Club Italy inspected your car, supplied you with a "passport" and a grille badge which was numbered, all for free (I think).
I have it for my car.

ACI do/did this service in Italy and it is certainly not free. FCA is now offering this service (for a tidy sum) providing a dossier and certificate etc after a detailed examination of the car by a marque knowledgeable technician (I will not use the word engineer). This service obviously requires the car to be present. It still is not a guarantee that the technician knows everything they should about the car.....

What Simon and others have been trying to buy is a certificate of origin which simply is a statement of the production top level data against a (any old) chassis number given to FCA to be certificated.

What is depressing is that FCA cannot perform this simple task without a lot of headache.

I am rather less than pleased with the Certificate for my Appia. They are unable to confirm the original engine number - i have no reason to believe that in the car is not original, but it would have been nice to have it confirmed - the original colour is quoted as Beige, when the evidence would suggest that it has always been Marrone, and the build date quoted is three months after the car was first registered! It's almost as if they have investigated the wrong car. At least the trim details are correct!

Maybe the chassis # is different too???? Have you taken this up with them as a complaint/quality control?

This saga comes across as one big laughing stock!

Advertised in all it's glory full page across a host of classic car magazines and motoring journals it offers absolutely nothing for a number of it's important models- in particular the Fulvia- Embarrasing to say the least!

I bet all the details are all there somewhere which is probably in the offices of Lancia Club Italy if they still have one.
I know the archive was moved there years ago, and Enrico Masala assisted letters and enquiries being forthcoming, he is no longer there.
I suspect the missing files are somewhere in Mirafiori.
